I have a completed grid.
But confused about figuring out the difference.

If the definition gives a C and the wordplay gives N,
is it N-C = 11 or
is it C-N or 26+3 - 14 =15.

Hankir, the numbering system you are using is only good for the second stage. The first stage is different and is hinted at by the definition of the one missing letter in the grid. This theme has been used several times over the years.

Hankir, you must have a wrong answer somewhere! There's one letter that definitely doesn't appear in the grid.
