Does anyone know how to go about selling stuff at auction? I've been made an executor of a will and one of the jobs is to sell whatever is of value to add to the estate so that the people inheriting get an amount of cash each and not a load of stuff they don't want. It's things like an 'antique' writing bureau, first day covers, pictures, pottery etc. I have looked at ebay but it's not suitable.
When my Mum died a couple of years ago we contacted a local auction house who came out to the house and told us what they thought would sell at auction. They even took it there for us in their van. She didn't have any antiques or anything of real value as such, just furniture, some crockery and pictures.
Alternativel you could contact a house clearance company - they will take everything and give you what they think it is worth. No worries about items not selling
