Harold Wilson said 'A week is a short time in politics', but with a new Prime Minister and a new monarch it's transpired that this past week has been a short time in the life of this nation.
I've no doubt that Charles will be a king dedicated to duty, but I have my doubts that he'll be a popular monarch. I think he's in for a rough ride and foresee big changes ahead. I feel quite sorry for him really. Any thoughts?
Whilst not a fan of Charles and his wife, I think he will be a good King in a different way to the Queen. As others have said, he does have a very hard act to follow and I bet he knows this. He won't be as relevant to me as the dear Queen was, who I did love. I won't love Charles. I still can't get over that photo of her shaking hands with Liz Truss and 48 hours later, she died - so amazing.
Even I can see the difference between a public figure who built a relationship with her country over decades and an old commie being lauded by young folk in the grip of mind altering substances at a festival.
Sorry :-) actually I've just been watching pictures of Charles and Camilla arriving at Buck House and he was welcomed with shouts of God save the King and cheered. They spent nearly 30 mins talking to people before looking at all the flowers and going in.
