Maybe if some members tried to welcome new members by engaging a bit more, they may find those new members up for some fun. What is the point on dwelling in the past? It's hardly encouraging fun when you are either ignored or accused of being a troll.

I wrote this, back in early February 2022, on a thread bemoaning the dirth of subject in the News category. It applies to Chatterbank too. The site is allowing conditions to thrive that will drive away people who do and will use the site as part of a policy to attract people who won't.

//The news category has been a graveyard for proper discussion for a couple of years now. AOGent was hounded mercilessly ever day, by a site "moderator" and another who has had 4 different usernames, that I know of, in my time on here. God knows how the old fellow put up with it because he had no support from the site control rooms when he was here. Ever likely no one wants to take his place. The BA was bang on and he himself has had a taste of the "off site" manouverings that are known about, and even joined by some of the mods, and how spiteful and relentless they can be. The site has allowed the wannabe trolls take centre stage thinking this will attract the gullible non thinking yoof. It won't.//

I always considered AOG to be a bit narrow minded and very set in his opinions and attitudes. I could have excused it due to age. But he is/was only a few years older than my brother...who is far more open minded and accepting of change. I know...everyone is different and entitled to their views.

We should remember that one poster is a mere speck on the screen and I mean no disrespect to AOG. The membership changes daily, I am sure. We come and we go. None, but none, is greater than anyone else (no matter what they think). AB may be a huge part of some lives and others are more take-it-as-it-comes. Which ever camp you are in just enjoy your time here for all too soon it is ended.
