a fella had from his stepfather "I should make you my main heir" - he didnt...
family quarrel over money of course - "I am sure we are very very (Diana look(*)) to John for saving us £250 000 in tax. I want my share now or I'll sue" - - (*) clutches pearls
these are generous offers ( or tributes) without issue.
oh my sister seventy y ago was asked to be a bridesmaid at a society wedding because she was a cute seven year old - - (look at her now seems a bit cruel).
oh, free pass to medical school from Indian Convent -1926 my mother. offer taken up ( just turn up)
free pass to oxbridge - offer not taken up (oops. That one says not an oops, the joint course at St Finnys was much better)
my pass to oxbridge was not free, bloody hard work and taken up.

My father took off his gold mining gear, walked into Witswatersrand and said to Prof Dart, "I want to study here." and the good prof said, "Start in october ( 1933)" - does that count ?
My father met a GP in training during the phoney war 1939. The GPs wife looked after his english affairs thereafter whilst he was in POW camp ( from May 1940)
I think it would be better if you had asked:
Describe an event where you get absolutely and completely screwed by a colleague and or friend. and then you find out an Extra Fact which explains it all....
( alot of where they decide to leave the company and set out to wreck the company before they leave.)
