Naval Records

My father was aboard HMS Rodney during WWII.
One of my friends' father was also at sea during this time and he applied for his father's naval records and was supplied with them.
Unfortunately, this wasa few years ago and my friend has some memory issues and cannot remember how he went about it and who he applied to.
Can anybody cast any light on how I can do this to get my father's records?
