Stop cats going to toilet in garden
24 Answers
I have posted this question in home and garden too. How can we stop the local cats using our wood chippings as a toilet all the time? We have tried lots of different thingd from the shops and nothing seems to work. Any humane ideas or otherwise?? TIA

I find it amusing that some cats come back to the house to go to the toilet, it's sweet.
I have never had a cat/garden problem so I can't really appreciate how frustrating it might be. For some reason it is a subject that always creates debate.
I am a dog and cat lover, they are totally different animals. I always picked up my dog poo when I was out for a walk. Cats are not so easy to control, nothing the owner does will change the situation. The only solution is for people to convince them that their garden is not a pleasant place to do their business. All the cat needs is to get a major shock (not electric) and it won't (hopefully) come back.
Water pistols work, but it means standing in the garden all day waiting for the monster. Sonic deterrants are seemingly really good. And there is all the smelly stuff that you can use. Or, since cats are intelligent, a sign saying "No cats allowed" - some tom cat will come along and spray that for you!
Cats are curious creatures! They drive you nuts but you still love them.

Cats do alot of damage to neighbors things, on a car it gets scared...scrambles off, scratches on car, spraying and potty all over, not very sanitary to you or if a pregnant women (very dangerous to them)is working in garden, also cats like to attack other cats at windows, now your screen is messed up, so it's not just having them potty in your home with a litter box, they do other damage to property. I advocate keeping cats indoors, I see a thread on here like this one, then next thing I see is someone wants to teach their cat to go "out" to potty so they don't have to mess with the box. Maybe the ones posting these should talk to each other?
I caught my neighbors cat attacking my screen with my GSD trying to warn it off, since it was seperated by glass the cat kept attacking the screen I got it all on tape, you can go to
