I found the weakest portrayal was of Diana, - the main protagonist of the series. A really camp performance, with her bowed head & upward fluttering eyes.
The script was good, Jonathan Pryce did a good rendition of D.o.Edinburgh by not trying to fool you into thinking he was him.
Watched first 2 episodes tonight, will continue

I believe some Americans actually believe it to be 100% true

I've never seen it, but from the pictures I've seen in newspapers and clips on TV, none of the actors look remotely like the people they're meant to be portraying, sometimes laughably so.

But it isn't entirely fictional, the events happened, it is only the dialogue which of necessity is invented.
You must have watched scores of films based on real events. The difference here is that many of the people portrayed are still alive.

There is apparently stuff in there that never happened.
Former prime ministers Tony Blair and John Major have recently complained about scenes they were depicted in which are fabrications.

As long as the viewer remembers it is a drama and not a documentary, i find no reason why it should not have been made. Were we not brought up on films depicting how America won WWII single-handed?

I have not seen any of the new series that has just dropped, but the previous series were superb.
The die (no pun intended) for the portrayal of Diana was cast previously and is accurate. She did bow her head and do the shyness thing until it was embarrassing.

This is modern history. The narrative is already written. If you disagree with the story, then you agree with the accepted version of averts, possibly coloured by your own personal pro monarchy prejudices.

the template for this sort of thing was The Private Life of Henry VIII, nearly 90 years old, made in Britain to entertain Americans by comically distorting and inventing royal affairs. Move along now, nothing new to see here.

I watch it avidly. But although I lived through it all and know the genuine story line, I also understand it is a fictional drama of facts. If you watch it knowing what is correct or made up it is hugely entertaining. Debicki and Pryce are brilliant.

I wasn’t going to watch it but other half was keen to so I did.
His verdict, it was ok.
My verdict, it was like rewatching a film which is something I’d never do...somewhat boring, you know what’s going to happen. And the fictionalisation of parts/lots of it I found ridiculous.

I thought Dominic West played the part of Prince Charles very well, especially his mouth movements.
When I saw who was playing Princess Anne, I thought she looked like Princess Margaret
Jonathan Pryce and Imelda Staunton were good, but I'm not keen on the actress who is playing Princess Dianna, I think she is trying too hard.
