I think a Ukrainian tommy pressed button B rather than Button A and wont own up to it
Their inventory SHOULD be one rocket short ( they cost a bit)
and american radar should have been able to detect its path, and one end is where it took off.

Records show that German soldiers were shot for stealing food from their own civilian folk. Obviously considered a grave crime in those times.
In WW1 British soldiers could be shot for desertion. Wouldn't happen today.
