We are metric but the scientists have a hoolie every now and then to make it simpler and pontificate. BUT people tend to stick to the old ones. Official and unoffical or old running side by side. awful
SI ( systeme international ) is the system to use and other metric scales - CGS, MKS, rationalised MKS ( which werent ) are uuuuugh
cl is centilitre ( 10 mls) so 75 cl is 750 mls - 3/4 li - ( kinda makes you think ( centi) that it should be 100. - it isnt. 100 of them make up a litre
L (el) should be capitalised to show a base unit
c should be lower case, to show a derived unit but 'c' is now not recognised. old sham unit still in use. uuugh. cm is out for length too
which goes to show you had good reason not to know what was going on.
When I was in Bella Italia, a really nice sweet was called Baci di Siena ( keeeses from Siena) at 200 lire/etto

it took weeks to work out etto - was - - - - ettogramme - - - or hectogram. as TTT wd say: what the heck was that?
hecto gram - wha-cto-gramme? - - per 100 g
1 Kg wd defeat even the sweetest tooth
unacceptable derived unit - - you get them everywhere
baci di Siena were nice tho
