Looks like it might be a waxwing winter... Everything crossed.

We may hopefully see them up here it is known to happen in colder years. Our feeder has been busy all day and I mean busy. Mid afternoon we had an unusual visitor for about 2 minutes which I identified as a Mistle Thrush on first sight. We have not seen one for at least 15 years and the very noticeable markings suggested a first year fledgling although we have had no sight of adults through the Summer or Spring. I began to doubt myself and realise that it may well have been a White Thrush escaping the cold weather like the Waxwings. I will keep a lookout for it and try to get a picture if it appears again.

We know that it is cold out there as the Blackbirds are eating the Snowberries. The birds do not eat them wholeheartedly because they are not very nutritious but do so if times are hard.
