//Nearly half of Americans //

How many Americans are there ?

Did they canvass all of them ?
Bin Yahoo, free yourself.
I hope so.

half of Americans polled. chrissakes buh-zeel, I wonder at times if the average ABer has a brain, and if so does he use them?

and the sample allows you to conclude for the whole population. ( yeah yeah it depends if the sample is big enough, and in proportion and not skewed by too many ( nuns, hoboes, judges choose one)
The only sample which is the whole population I can think of is the census in the UK
Even General Elections, are around 80%.

Why poll Americans? - even the English, do they have a say or do they influence any decision.

As for dear Harry himself, sensitive proletarian, private Harry why would he retain the title - Duke?
can you think of a reason or perhaps 100m reasons?
I am not calling the dear little fellow - greedy
I reserve that for his wife - ter daah !
The sample was 2000 people. Hardly representative of 332 million.
^^indeed
er size of the sample ( so long as it is representative - that is not drawn from a vets reunion or a AMA poss-up or the nat rifle association meeting)
is discussed here

https://statisticsbyjim.com/hypothesis-testing/sample-size-power-analysis/

and 2000 will detect on expectation a 49-51 split or larger

Yeah technical, but it comes up regularly.
To know reasonably certainly in a pop of 330m people think you need a sample of millions - you dont.

a million sample will detect a 49.999 - 50.001 % split ( but they cant all be deep south afro-americans).

This was why the NHS was in the forefront of Covid research - the NHS cd dial up 100 000 pts ( assorted) no probs, and no other health ( insurance) sector could.
I have been saying since the book came out, that moaning is not a long-term career choice.

Bolt shot - empty future looms, the love affair between tabloid America and the 'royals' has reached the 'Don't call us ...' stage.
Honestly who cares. Why do people keep going on about them?
Question Author
Those folk trying to derail my OP with a smokescreen about sample size (an argument already exposed as flawed by Peter) are missing the point.

Two polls carried out by the same organisation, so presumably using an identical sampling strategy, showed an increase over a month of 18% in favour of the couple's downgrading. So the support is falling away (i.e. their star is waning .)

Won't be long until their wean is starring though.

The country is a Republic.
Half of Americans have republican views, is not a noteworthy result.
If anything, half of Americans support them IS the more remarkable result.
//If anything, half of Americans support them IS the more remarkable result.//

Well one of half of them is American. I dont think it really has anything to do with Royalty, in fact even if it does more likely that they are 'gloating' on the potential damage to the Monarchy.
I think AH has stated why.

When you whinge and slate everyone around you eventually you run out of people who will talk to you and so your material dries up. How many of those 'luvvies' they invited to the wedding and mixed with initially do they see now I wonder? And how many they do see are guarded in their conversation or scan them on arrival for recorders?

It is all very sad. Harry appears to think everything is bad for him and all he needs to do is keep quiet and get a job, he would gain respect if he did some worthwhile work.
//How many of those 'luvvies' they invited to the wedding and mixed with initially do they see now I wonder?//

Who could trust them? I wouldn't.

I remember George Clooney saying he and his wife had not met either of them and thought the wedding invitation came from the palace, so they went because it would have been rude to refuse.
Harry being 'royal' and spouting garbage like a fourteen-year-old with anger issues is, and clearly now was, a novelty.

But novelties, by definition, wear off because 'the public' has a short attention span, and zero tolerance of one-trick ponies stuck on 'repeat'.

Their days as novelties are coming to an end, and amen to that.
