Should He Do It ?

The Palace is in discussions with BBC for HM King Charles III to do an interview on TV in advance of his coronation. The major topic likely to be his youngest son's recent behaviour.

Should he do it ?

Please try to answer neutrally, this is not intended to be a Royalist v Republican airing although of course it will have a bearing on your views. As an anti-monarchist myself who nevertheless had enormous respect for the King's late mother, I feel that the King would be unwise to do it. We have seen in the past how such interviews have gone horribly wrong, not necessarily achieving anything other than mucky-media-material aimed at increasing viewing figures. They (the media) employ experienced and expert interrogators, and it is impossible (with all his other activities) to keep the King up to their grilling capabilities.

So, in your opinion, should he do it (or should he make it a one-way declaration a la Xmas Broadcast)?

I am much in favour of the latter.

I don't see why discussion about any of the family is necessary. In fact he should avoid as much media coverage as possible and retain his dignity. I look forward to his coronation. I couldn't care if Harry and Megan attend or not.

I do think the idea of a statement, similar to Christmas broadcast, is better. Confirming his dedication to the role of king of a multicultural country, acknowledging the support of those family who have been there for him in their shared loss. Not just William and Kate, but the Princess Royal, and Edward and Sophie, and even Andrews daughters who apparently have been more on the scene. If he included a message to the dynamic duo that reaffirmed his love for them as father and grandfather that would be enough.

I don't think King Charles reads about what the Prince and Princess of Montecito get up to. I'm pretty sure he would not have watched Meghan's podcasts or the docuseries, or read The Spare or any other book that has been written about them by Tom Bower or Valentine Low.
Also, I doubt he watched the ridiculous interviews Harry did in America, and if he did any of these, he has too much time on his hands.
Have I watched or read any of them? No. I have the time but not the inclination.
