I’ve just heard General Lord Dannett say that the jet training will probably be on Soviet planes.
What is he taking about?
Ukrainians don’t need training on aircraft they already know how to fly.
And the PM specifically said NATO planes of course.
Then he said that Ukraine wanted to push the Russians out of Ukraine “and maybe even Crimea”
Oh dear …
Ich, he's a UK General and history and brains don't necessarily follow with the appointment. It's one of the reasons that Harry joined the Army - as in an acceptance of ignorance.
I’ve always liked General Dannett but I read and listen to a lot of military people talk about this (I know I should get out more) and the Ukrainian perspective is naturally and noticeably different. The thing is tho that they are right.
We constantly fret about “escalation” when surely what we really mean is “nukes”
We mean that Russia is going to “escalate”.
They’ve bombed murdered raped used phosphorus and cluster bombs and btw sent 134,000+ of their own to their deaths.
So short of nukes it’s hard to see where else they can go hence my comment.
I’m not aware we’ve sent any men to fight in Ukraine …
Yes but like I say it’s Russian “escalation” that is referred to.
A Ukrainian MP asked last night what we thought was meant by “escalation” and of course no one had an answer for her. The word is bandied around as an excuse
