I eat rabbit so I would try squirrel, they rarely eat carrion unlike rats

I'm not sure, not by choice, I don't think but I wouldn't eat guineapig having had them as pets in the past and they are staple diet in some countries, I believe.

I’ve never eaten rabbit, never had the opportunity, but have eaten horse meat. I’m really not sure I’d eat squirrel, I’m not quite sure why.

Why not? Who decided which animals are fair game (see what I did there) and which are not to be eaten? If truly hungry I am sure even those saying no would think twice.
