Lankeela; There's an awful lot of people here who don't have a clue what you are talking about. They think that they can keep banging on about how it's all obvious if only you count the noughts etc. You don't need all that stuff; just carry on as you have been, and when you don't know how to solve a problem then do the intelligent thing and ask someone (or something - google might be quicker, but then again computers are dumber than humans) to give you the answer.

Out of interest (or actually, disinterest) I just googled what is 70% of 17 and there was not one single answer that just gave me the answer without a load of explanations which mean nothing to me!

No, JJ. I divided 17 by 10 ten to get 1.7.
Then multiplied 1.7 by 7 to get 11.9

"'can you do 10% lankeela?' - what does that even mean? " it means it's very easy to find 10% just move the decimal point so 10% of 17 = 1.7, then multiply by 7 - so 7 x 1.7 = 11.9.
