Animals in cabin ?

Ahead of me in the security search at Boston Logan Airport was a woman carrying a medium sized bag clutched to her chest and out of the bag protruded the head of a real, live dog. She was two or three in front of me and I did not get a chance to ask her with which airline she was travelling. Is/are there an airline(s) which actually allows live animals in the cabin ? I ask this question because, if so, I want to make a note never to travel with that/those airline(s).

You probably have travelled on an airline that allows animals in the cabin. Most airlines allow assistance dogs (but only assistance dogs, not people`s pets).

I would rather travel with a well behaved animal than on the same plane as some of the drunken vomiting (male) passengers I have had the misfortune to travel with.

I thought a lot of US airlines did, it seems to be only in UK we have so many restrictions, I can't see any problem at all with a dog on a plane.

Was it an internal flight? I've commented on another thread that 30-odd years ago, we were able to fly between Glasgow and Gatwick with our kittens in the cabin in their carrying basket.

I don't think my dogs would like it - they would be scared and then be a nuisance to other people as well as a worry to me - so I wouldn't even consider doing it.

But that doesn't seem to stop idiot parents though - what part of "Your baby is going to hate the pressure changes and make your life a misery and ruin the flight for the other passengers" is so hard to understand ...

The point is I don't know which flight/airline she travelled on, hence the question. I would not knowingly travel on any passenger flight with an animal in the cabin. The animal might easily have some sort of fit at any stage and in the event of an emergency it is quite possible that the owner would be too preoccupied with the animal (which might be calm or not) to properly follow instructions and procedures. I did not see what procedure the animal was put through at security because it was out of my view. While I have occasionally seen poorly disciplined children on flights, I accept that they, like ill behaved adults, are among the accepted paying passengers - at least they can be told the requirements, they understand them and they (once talking) can provide two way communication. The youngest age that one of my sons flew at was just over two months and they flew a lot. They were never any inconvenience to us or other passengers and that is true of the vast majority of children on flights. I simply do not afford animals the same level of tolerance on board aircraft - out in their natural habitat on terra firma is a different matter altogether.

Infact the % for a human to have a fit on a flight and all that entails, is far higher than an animal doing it all

I am quite happy for others to attach themselves to animals and sing their praises above people, it is their right after all. However, all I am saying is that I am not that way inclined, as is also my right. I was until now unaware that animals are routinely carried in the cabin on some flights and I want to avoid such flights.
