The water of the Dnipro river is used to good effect for huge hydroelectric stations and to supply reservoirs that provide coolant for nuclear reactors such as the huge one at Enerhodar.

The other thing - (apart from apologising (partially) to Austria and Malta) to say is that the Russians probably would not in any case wish to destroy the big power stations as they supply occupied areas too of course.
