Yes, the Ukrainians are clever people and to get the electric working after the Russian destruction is great news.

I never realised quite how much energy Ukraine used to generate: they were set to be one of the EU’s main energy suppliers. The water of the Dnipro river is used to good effect for huge hydroelectric stations and to supply reservoirs that provide coolant for nuclear reactors such as the huge one at Enerhodar.

I can see great things for the Ukraine after the war is over. No doubt they'll join NATO and probably the EUSSR. potentially huge exporters of energy and grain etc.

How come they haven't bombed these stations ?

They have.

But it’s not easy to destroy these places. They are - especially nuclear power stations these days - built to resist wars. And even the Russians have hesitated to bust dams like Nova Kakhovka because the consequences would not be good due them. What they’ll do when they are forced out of Enerhodar, and hopefully soon Kherson oblast to the south, is anyone’s guess. But Crimea is also fed by this water, so …

The other thing - (apart from apologising (partially) to Austria and Malta) to say is that the Russians probably would not in any case wish to destroy the big power stations as they supply occupied areas too of course.
