Good day, thanks to NACW and Klazo, for your help with Chalicea’s Listener 4758. I’m stuck on some of the Across clues and would appreciate your guidance. Thanks in advance!

( In each across clue the wordplay leads to the answer with an extra letter that is not entered in the grid; these letters lead to a list of things that solvers must highlight (37 cells in total) to form a symmetrical representation of a thematic event. The Chambers Dictionary (2016) is the primary reference. )

21 Bizarre particle, hot like a mock sun (8) : P?T?T?i?

Put me out of my misery with this one, Klazo! Which of the many words for "club"? Thanks!
The one out of hell (gone when the morning comes).
Question Author
Nice parsing, ProfessorM and Klazo for this one.
I see it in Chambers. Thanks!
Sorry Matakari, Was cooking my evening meal.

Prof M. Never seen an clue/answer given in such a melodious way before !
Very novel :-)
Matakaei, glad you got your errors fixed - and in a pretty novel way!
Question Author
Bon appétit, Klazo! Both you and ProfessorM are adept at parsing..."club" -bat... Or the flying one...When I put these together, I did not think I was on the right trail, but then I went to Chambers and you were both right! I still have a few to confirm, but I'll give this a rest and take it up again after tomorrow's Spectator.
Happy for you Matakari. And I'm glad you're using Chambers more often now. Prof M installed it into me to get and use the big Red book.
(A necessity with these types of puzzles) My online Lexicons just don't cover a lot of the obscure words. So i'm glad you've taken onboard what I have been getting at in our private conversations. The book is the Bible of words to us cruciverbalists. Use it !
Must admit, I still take the idle approach (sometimes) as I did with 'Trial' earlier (I should have checked that word out). But I also am training myself to use the book more. Old habits and all that.
Have yourself a nice relaxing evening mate and get that brain refreshed for tomorrow :-)
