Bumble Bees
6 Answers
I saw a bumblebee fly into a hole in the ground. I think the hole was excavated originally by a vole/s.
Do the bees ever make their own nests or do they just take on disused nests made by something else

Bumble Bees do not build nests. They look for suitable to colonise. Bee boxes help. I have 2 in my garden. I had a huge red tail bumble bee flying round my house last week. I just trapped her and put her outside. Don't kill bumble bees please! They are very unlikely to sting. More info here: https://www. bumblebeecon servation.or g/bumblebee- nests/
