Why Is It The Left That Is So Keen On Net Zero?
Is it because of their ingrained desire to control the general population's behaviour in their everyday lives?

Developing renewable energy sources is an investment. Researching better technology for energy storage is an investment. Improving efficiency is an investment.
Granted, if your sole goal is to "fix the planet" then you'll obviously fail to do that with UK action alone. But it's economically beneficial to move towards (and beyond) net-zero, and environmentally beneficial too.

The Green Party now runs Mid Suffolk council have made almost all its gains from the Tories. In East Suffolk the council is now run by a Green-LibDem coalition. In East Herts the Greens are the largest party.

The first party to abandon the mad rush to net-zero, impoverishment and rural crucifixion will get my vote. Net-zero has to be a long, long-term aim. As so many people have said before, our country makes so little difference to the world total that it is stupid to hurt ourselves. 'Slowly, slowly catchee monkee' is sensible in this case.
