Sorry meant to type more than above - you can get 6 years worth back - if you are skeptical, click on to forums, scroll right to the top of the page on the site, and check out Bank Survey Results. And before any one comes and says banks are giving back as gesture of goodwill - yeah right 3.7 million given back already on just one site - I don't think so. My favorite topic at the moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/ its endorsed by Ethels site.
That's correct, but usually seems to take a while, normally they refund the charges, and give you 30 days to close your account. There is also a list of parachute accounts on consumer action group. I am in process of claiming for my daughter at the moment - hopefully will take about another 4 weeks. You can get charges back from credit cards as well.
Hi Pink Fizz. You will get your money back, providing you do it correctly, and don't let the banks etc fob you off - which they will try several times. Did you send off the Subject Access Letters, and enclose your 10 with them, and send them recorded, as then they can't get lost. The amount at the top of the consumer action group of people getting their money back has risen to 5.6 million !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The amount doesn't matter. I've read threads of people claiming just one or two charges, and the most I read of was about 11,000 - gulp. Do read the threads on CAG, they will certainly inspire you to claim it all back. My daughter is claiming about 300 back, and we have just sent Letter Before Action - next step is filing at the court. She doesn't have to pay court fees, as she is on benefit, but if you have to pay, you can do it on line. You also get your court costs back, and 8% added on top from the date they took the money from your account. The banks usually say they are going to defend, but then the money mysteriously appears in bank accounts - no admission of liability !!!!!!!!!! If the banks could defend the charges, they should have done so by now - save all the farce.
