Just bought a brand new washing machine and on first use it leaked all over the floor......... guy turns up to fix it.... still leaking......... 2nd guy turns up and fixes leak......... drum now making loud clicking noise on top spin........ 3rd guy turns up and says the noise is normal!!!!!!!!! Wasnt there before tho!!!! The machine is less than 3 months old and the place I got it from will not replace unless a fault cannot be fixed.......... I have just put the machine on a spin cycle whilst empty and it is as quiet as a mouse..... but when it has a load in it is very noisy.... Any one got any ideas or advice.... I am well hacked off!!!!
At the risk of getting my wrist slapped again, try http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/gen eral consumer issues - there are people on there with consumer issues, and template letters to send off. Its time to get serious with them.
don't give up, keep on at them and insist that the noise is NOT normal. Who have you bought it from? Is it a big company or a small one - shouldn't make a difference though, if there is a fault they should replace it.
under the sale of goods act you are protected - if this machine is not of mnerchantable quality.
that said, if you load the machine unevenly they do go noisy in full load with the centrifugal force and the weight.
Well must be uneven on every load, cos it makes the noise every time the spin goes at its top speed. Have checked out my consumer rights and apparently as long as they can repair it, I have to keep it. If they cannot repair it then I get a new one............. They coming out again on monday and it is my intention to make them listen to a whole cycle and then if they tell me the noise is normal I will ask for an independent expert, cos I know its not normal!!!!!!
