Good Saturday morning Birdies. It's the weekend :)
I shall just be pottering around doing a few things around the house and then cooking a pork dinner later. Mustn't forget the apple sauce - that would be sacrilege!
I hope you all have nice plans for the weekend or just plan to relax and put your feet up. Whatever you're doing, I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Morning, Chip. A BBQ sounds like great fun. I keep hearing conflicting reports about the weather over the next few days but it was beautiful out yesterday by the time I arrived home from work, so here's hoping there's more of that on the way.
I certainly wouldn't say no to a BBQ myself tomorrow.
Minted lamb kebabs are lovely. We've had those many a time on the BBQ. I really do hope the weather is good for you.
Morning, Canary. The novelty of living under a flight path must wear off pretty quickly. We've got a small airfield near us (Halfpenny Green) and at weekends we have a few light aircrafts going over us. They're no bother though.
no apple sauce! - sacrilege would be kind - living where you are with all those apple trees around you, it would be a case of hung drawn and the rest, not forgetting the dunking stool as well.
Morning all, looks like a half-decent day emerging. It will be a rolled lamb joint for me this evening - now where can I find some form of berry sauce not being well-stocked up on the berries to make my own and as I am working later.
Morning all, I hope you're all well.
Disaster struck here overnight. Yesterday, I has started to make a trifle for today's festivities (jelly setting in the fridge), when I got up this morning I found that the stand for the trifle bowl had broken in two places. Unsalvagable, so no trifle in Casa Racoon this afternoon.
I'll have to rustle up a cheesecake instead.
I'm very disappointed in the trifle bowl, it was a lovely, big glass one. Great for entertaining.
Morning Rocky - oh that's a shame. I made a beautiful trifle for a work do once and put it in the fridge in our office. One of the other ladies opened the fridge door and it just fell out. All the glass collapsed inwards and into the trifle, so it was beyond salvation.
Another time I'd made a Raspberry Bakewell cake and was carrying it from the staff carpark to one of the rear entrances of the hospital when, en route, the bottom of the cake carrier just gave way and the cake splatted all over the ground. I was heartbroken!
I hope the cheesecake turns out well. I must admit I am sorely tempted to knock up a Nigella white chocolate cheesecake. That's a favourite in my household and among my colleagues at work.
How are you otherwise? You must be looking forward to your trip to NYC? OH and I discussed (or rather dreamt about) going to Las Vegas for my birthday in January to see Kylie perform. However, unless I have some sort of windfall, it's extremely unlikely to happen....
