I do not support wars of annihilation naomi and that is what both of the ruling sides in this war are practising. i do not think any decent person can in good conscience support a war of annihilation targeting any people. in the long term i would like to see israel returned to its 1949 borders but that is not the goal of hamas and i do not believe it is acceptable to slaughter civilians in pursuit of that goal
For what it's worth, I still think your arguments are coming from a non-existent standpoint I.e. your assuming people (quite who is a mystery, as I can't see anyone doing it) are in support of war in general and the atrocities perpetrated by both sides.
you still seem to be trying to generate an argument which isn't there.
In the space between an appalling action and a country's reaction, a country like Israel has choices. They do not have to take themselves down and degrade themselves in the same way as the original perpretrators. The rules of war, the Geneva Conventions, the protection of civilians - especially children and babies - this is what sets apart a decent person from a terrorist, and a decent country from a rogue state.
Another thing Untitled is that the majority of Hamas in Gaza started off as the Ordinary Gazans as you call them. Just ordinary people who as one on here likes to say have been Radicalised. Many are taught from an early age to hate anything to do with Israel or anyone trying to bring peace to the area. As I have said before I know this from first hand as whenever we crossed between Egypt and Israel via the Rafah crossing it was always the Gazan children who threw stones at our vehicles not the Israeli people and this was in the early 1980s.
if you were there in the early 80s shedman then gaza had been under military occupation for almost 20 years. it's hardly surprising that the people you saw in the street were big fans of israel
there is a long way between that and an actual terrorist though... certainly it does not justify killing civilians
