Indie, I have at no time queried the fact that other theories exist, so I'm mystified as to why you keep on saying you have acepted that whilst I - you seem to think - have not. What I question is not these acronym theories' existence but their comparative value.

I haven't heard of them for a while, but I've no reason to believe that the Flat Earth Society has ceased to exist. Theirs is a theory that disputes most geographers' notions of correctness. Do you give it house-room?

David Icke packs venues in the USA with folks only too happy to have him tell them that the world is controlled by people who are really huge lizards in disguise. That's a theory that disputes most sane people's notions of correctness. Do you give it house-room?

I could go on, but what would be the point? You baldly stated above that 'pommy' or its derivatives were acronym-based. No reputable etymological dictionary supports that view. The simple fact is that some theories are trash, especially when no-one is prepared to offer any kind of rationale for belief in them...as is happening right here. Ah well...it's pretty clear that I'm not going to get an answer now, I suppose, since your last reponse comes nowhere near to being an appropriate reply to my question.

Nice to see that David got an answer to his question "Why did the English inhabit Australia?" - right at the top of the thread there...
