Is My Male Friend Overstepping Boundaries Or Am I Overreacting

I'm a single mom of an 8 year old girl. I recently ended a 7 year relationship with a man who basically knew my daughter since she was a baby and he was still barely part of her life since she has a biological dad who's in her life full time. I have a male friend (who I'm not super close to. He is more of a best guy friend to one of my best friends) and he keeps doing things like buying us tickets to amusement parts without telling me and saying things like "I need your daughter to warm up to me" when I'm not comfortable with bringing my child around just anyone. Let alone a male friend I'm not even close to. Am I overreacting for getting annoyed at him for overstepping boundaries?

No, you're not overreacting. You should set out (and clearly) what you will put up with and what you will not put up with. Tell your male friend what will happen if he oversteps the mark.

As I haven't experienced this myself, I can't really comment, but my daughter has been in this position and it's very hard on the child sometimes when they get used to someone and then if it doesn't work out and they leave.

I'm sure someone will come along on here and give you some sound advice.

Not over-reacting at all IMO - it's out of order for that guy to say things like that, in fact it even sounds pervy. Take care.

No disrespect, just say stop it .

You still seem to be having poblems with friends, Lil.  I think maybe you should steer clear of him with his comments about your daughter.

Difficult to tell the motive. He may just be hoping to get his feet under the table, as it were. But if you are unhappy talk to him and clarify things. Should there be anything untoward it's best to nip it in the bud early.
