We used to have three Wetherspoon's pubs in Ipswich, Jarg, but they closed two of them down.  (One is now a Yates' pub, while the other is still seeking someon to take it on after several years of remaining empty).  Annoyingly though, it's the worst of the three that's still trading!

The Wetherspoon's in Stowmarket is closer to me and not too bad a place for a meal.  However it lacks atmosphere to me, meaning it's not the sort of place that I'd go for just a drink.

The Wetherspoon's pub in Bury St Edmunds is definitely something rather special though:

Yes, naomi. He lived at at 25 Jamaica Street., London E1. It's more in Shadwell/Stepney than Wapping, but in the same general area. Strangely, there is a "Garnet Street", also in London E1, and that really is in Wapping.

It was the velvet coaster Chris and it was really nice there.

Also even at this time of year it was very busy the 3 times we visited it, they even had a glass lift there that took you up to the roof terrace but alas the roof terrace was closed 😔

Aye, used to be a bank, evidenced by their eye-watering prices and lack of interest.

Both those pubs (The Standing Order and The Booking Office) are very good Chris. The Booking Office is ideal for rail travellers. It has a departures screen in the bar and you can wiat there until your train's platform is displayed. The Standing Order is very good (love the old strongroom door in one of the rooms) but when we stayed there last July it seemed absolutely packed every time we tried to get in there. However, just along George Street there is a third 'Spoons - The Alexander Graham Bell. This is much quieter and a really nice pub.
