In your locality have you noticed that the price of fish and chips has increased horrifically over the last few months? My local fish n chip shop has increased its prices significantly, apparantly due to 'spiralling overheads'! Is this an isolated phenomenon, or widespread?
im in stoke on trent and my bf went to the chip shop last week and ordered to fish and ships and it cam to 12 pound. i was shocked so its not just where u are?
yeh it used to be a poor mans supper but not any more and thier set to go up even more because of the potatoe shortage due to low yield of crops, bad news ,stylinsam you want to move up here to leeds,we get three fish 1 large chips for 7 quid your getting ripped of mate find another chippy, even the famouse harry ramsdens dont charge that much.
stylinsam,yo mate just checked harry's prices and they are,3.99,special &chips4.99,harry,s challenge,6.49,so if you was up here you could have a gut buster for 98p more, bet you wouldent need to eat for a couple of days.move up here way cheeper, and the ales better.
I think Harrys Ramsdens use Haddock rather than Cod, and Pollock in their frozen stuff. Poolock is a great Cod substitue as it doesn't have the stonger taste Haddock has.
It's about 2.80 up here in Manchester in the couple i go to. Had a shock when I was living in Kensington that it was a fiver from one on Kensington High Street (used to go to the brilliant Kebab grill place instead).
