Our first experience has left us far from impressed. Has anyone else had a poor service from them?

I know that on one occasion an eBay seller cheaped out and used Hermes, despite my partner paying £5 more to have the item sent by DPD. The item never arrived.
jno: Yeah, they used to be Hermes.
I personally have never had any issues with them, however my partner has had more parcels lost (if I recall correctly they were lost at the hub, and not with the local driver) than delivered. I think she's just really unlucky with them.
I try and avoid using them, however if I see an item on eBay that uses them, I'll still buy it. My partner will actively buy from another seller, if she can. If she can't, she'll contact them (explaining why she refuses to use Evri) and pay more money for it to be sent by another courier, even if it costs an extra £10 in postage costs.
It's happened again...this morning a neighbour knocked on my door looking for his parcel. He wasn't even given a photograph as a clue as to where/who it was delivered to.
Diz...the only way I'll order from a seller on eBay who uses "another courier" is if they offer click and collect. Then I can pick it up at Argos in town. They've not messed that up...yet.
