Monterey Cypress. Also known as Macrocarpa
You sure? doesn't look like the pictures of those on google. It's in Dorset if that helps.

Blue atlas cedar?

from California originally apparently.
don't think so surreyman.
TTT, was it in the garden of the Kings Arms pub in Portesham by any chance ?
no not there.
apologies my answer at 19:17 was meant for 19:10
Is it in Weymouth near or in a cemetery ?
no it's in Bournemouth.
There was one in Mudeford/Christchurch which was due to be felled, and so many begged for it not to be hacked down. Not sure what happened to it
I think its a common juniper tree (Juniperis communis)
Amazingly One of only three conifers indigenous to the British Isles, the other two are yew (Taxus baccata) and Scotts pine (pinus Sylvestris)
I'm with chipchopper, far more likely to be a juniper, however it you go past it again , snip off a sprig, and post that much more helpful.
Sound advice Rowan, some close up detail is what's really needed 😉
