Lamp Standard Replacement Kit
I'm looking to replace the cable and switch to my existing floor standing lamp shade.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Most lamps (even those having metal parts) are class II having no earth connection, but check the mains plug connection before buying a length of replacement mains cable - 0.75mm square cable should be OK.
For a cheap replacement, consider wiring an inline switch as below – or alternatively a floor/foot operated switch if you’d prefer that.
If the lamp has an earth connection, make sure the switch has provision (or enough space) for a through earth connection.
