Don't Pay!!!

thanx sharon

Which payment system has the bailiff asked you to use?

This sounds iffy. Are they actually bailiffs or a dca? They should be registered  see more info here:- https://www.stepchange.org/debt-info/debt-collection/debt-passed-to-a-collection-agency.aspx

I'd do a shed load of research before I paid them a penny.

19.59 Barmaid, in the end i had very little choice!!

As i live abroad, i have my post sent to a close friends address. He called me about 19.55 saying that the bailiffs were on their way to his house to force entry to recover goods to the value of..

I had no choice but to pay!!!

fingers crossed I wasnt too late!!

See here:- Bailiff powers when they visit your home: What you can do when a bailiff visits - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

I do think that there is something not quite right here.

I would do some checkings pdq and potentially look at securing your financial details.

21.19 barmaid i felt i had my hands tied behind my back!!

I´m hoping by some means of recovering this money, if not the so called unpaid council tax then the bailiff costs!

So blooming heavy handed!!

barmaid, my friend is so convinced that his house has been trashed, hes gone to his mums house! thats how monsterous these people are!! legally can they remove stuff from a strangers house, its not his debt!!

Are they wanting payment by WhatsApp. Daughter lives abroard and when she had to pay the Council not Bailiffs she corresponded with them by email and received quick response and help. The payment in question was two years late and no Bailiffs involved.
Do you have a copy of the tax payment schedule.
Can someone go to the Council to confirm the matter is with the Bailiffs. They will need the number of your tax bill.

It is odd that you have not had a demand notice before Bailiffs involved

I do not believe that under these circumstances they have a right of entry (although enforcement is not something I deal in).  This just does not sound right.

Here is the Equita website:-

Make A Payment | Fast & Secure Online Payment | Equita

No, they cannot remove someone else's goods.  Generally, though, they would enter into a walking possession order of those goods.  How trustworthy is this friend?

A relevant link:

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Equita isn't exactly everybody's favourite firm:
https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.equita.co.uk

Their payment page is here though:
https://equita.co.uk/make-a-payment/

(As you can see, the URL is 'https', rather than 'http', which indicates greater security.  Some browsers don't directly show a padlock to the left ofthe URL.  You might need to click on the 'View site information' button, which appears in that place instead, in order to see the padlock).

The whole thing looks dodgy. Before you pay anything ckeck it out.

"legally can they remove stuff from a strangers house, its not his debt!!" - no they cannot, sue their Aprils off if they have.
