This is interesting. Why would having only 2 channels be the golden age of television.?  With my smart TV I can watch anything I want when I want, access the news I want to watch, the programming I want without having to wait a week for the next episode. THIS is the golden age 😃

// I wish there was a "Nostalgia Channel" where I could watch those programmes and take myself back.//

There is.  It's called Talking Pictures TV and not only shows obscure old (mainly British) films, but also old TV series like Crown Court, The Brothers, Rumpole of the Bailey, Danger UXB, Van der Valk, ZCars.....

Freeview Channel 82

[email protected]  ---didn't we have the repeats in a morning a few years back?. Can't  remember which programmes.

I can remember standing for the National Anthem just before the TV would go off.

andres...these aren't repeats. They are "pre-showings" ie Emmerdale's Monday 7.30pm episode will be available from 7 am on Monday...same with The Street. On ITVX.

I was wrong about Circus Boy.  My excuse is that it was a very long time ago.

Anyone remember the catchphrase, "Oi'll give it five."?

Thanks -gingejbee.

The Brummie on Juke Box Jury.  She released a record with the same title

Ooes, she was a Black Country girl on Thank Your Lucky Stars

“Our dad had us stand by the sea and imagine we had a shell to our ears!”

Stand by the sea? Stand by the sea?

I didn’t see the see until I was 37!!!

We couldn’t afford a telly and I was sent down to the local TV shop to watch it hrough the window. When I came back I had to tell Mum & Dad what was on. I became quite proficient in lipreading.

Anyone remember the catchphrase, "Oi'll give it five."?

Yes. It was Janice Nicholls and the programme was “Thank Your Lucky Stars.” There was a slot in the programme where the latest record releases were reviewed and Janice was a panel member.
