Do you think that offensive? I often read reports in the press describing people of that age as elderly, frail, vulnerable when they've been scammed or attacked. The World Health  Organisation and United Nations state old age is 60+.

The NHS says 65+ 

I'm not to proud to benefit from concessions for pensioners.  Every cloud 😁

why would someone get offended at being called old? it happens to everyone who lives long enough. 
 

unfortunately old people are vulnerable to making mistakes and one of the most common is that they expect the world to remain like the one that they understand. it doesn't.

You didn't say old you said extremely old which shows your pre-conceived idea of what that age bracket onwards is. It's those extremely young folk,  who've yet to trigger their pension, who think that all attempted change is good and to be supported.

If he was worthy of the title he would have laughed it off with some witty remark, which would have given him some esteem, instead he will henceforth be 'Lord Popadum'.

I have known & liked many Indians & have travelled extensively in India. Indians have a lot of good qualities, but what they don't have is a sense of humour.

some do i'm afraid. it is possible to overcome with some effort and self awareness but some elderly people do not bother.

TBF I don't think it was Lord "poppadom" himself that kicked up the stink. As usual offence would have been taken on his behalf...

I don't think anyone can consider themselves old until they are 80 nowadays.  Considering many are now living to over 100 years old that makes sense.  My own mother died at a few months over 100 and her mother died in 1983 at 98.

Age isn't a number.  I know 20 year olds who are knocking 90 and 90 year olds who are going on 20.   Regardless of years some people are always old and others always young.  It's all in the head.
