continues on....the latest being the sale of the Royal Mail to some Czech outfit, a 500 year old UK company down the Labour laundry tubes to the Dump.

Disgraceful.....they're in a downward spiral as in they increase the prices of postage and their volume goes down, so what do they do - increase the prices again and watch the effect! How about promotional drops or doing deals with card companies etc around things like Christmas.

wasn't kindle doing away with books & web news doing away with newspapers?

You really think snail mail will keep going for ever and a day?

Give your  head a wobble, the World moves on.

Kindle is doing away with books.

Neither are going to change things overnight but with the passage of time it will change.

RM are delivering 8 BILLION letters a year - how long before it gets to zero genius?

//Kindle is doing away with books.//

rubbish

I've got an idea, we could recruit some young enthusiastic horsemen. They could take the letters and ride between stables getting a new horse until they reach the target address. Should be able to do for less than a quid a go! Well Diane Abbot knows someone......🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎

and the successor to the pony express now processes and delivers 383 million pieces of mail PER DAY!

10:17 yes but most of that is junk/commercial all of which is unnecessary.

Here's the play. He gets RM cheap because it has all the covenants for delivering letters etc thus a millstone. The real money is in the parcel business. High sts are dying, most order from home. So in 5 years when he's got shot of the expensive non profit bits the value wil rocket and it'll get snapped up by one of the big boys for a huge profit.

//10:17 yes but most of that is junk/commercial all of which is unnecessary.//

Some - but a lot of essential stuff too & purveyors of goods & services wouldn't use mail shots if it wasn't doing them any good.

Some arrant nonesense being spouted here todayπŸ™„

10:39 "Some arrant nonesense being spouted here todayπŸ™„" - indeed there is, 99.9% of snail mail is easily replacable by other conduits. Completely unneccessary. Very few personal letters are sent and they too can use email. Let the specialist couriers do the ones that have to be physical.

//Some arrant nonesense being spouted here today//

Yes there is, by you.

You seriously think physical mail will carry on forever?

As I said above it wont happen overnight but it will happen.

Once the older people die snail mail will die with them.

And yes AMazon is killing of books, millions now use Kindles, its far cheaper for one (If you have Amazon apparently there is a huge range free).  As with mail, once the older generations go books will follow.

10:42.  Good post.

//ok it's Labour allowing the sale..genius!//

The deal was agreed in May, Kemi Badenoch in talks with IDS

Yes but Labour could have stopped it, like they did with loads of other things. Labour are allowing it.

And so they should.

If you allow the peoples of the 3rd word unabated & even ecouraged entry to your country, it will soon become part of the 3rd world.  Just a simple fact!

Well we are allowing most of the 3rd world in along with their cultures and disagreeable ways. So yes we are going down the pan.

Are TTT & youngmafbog the right's equivalent of gully & nicebloke? Bully boys all.

//You seriously think physical mail will carry on forever? //

Forever is a long time but it will still be around for generations to come.
