It is disgraceful.
The Labour Pary has spent 14 years in opposition criticising the government. No problem with that - that the opposition's job. But their plans to tackle the small boat problem by "tackling the gangs" is peeing in the wind. They have no better ideas for dealing witth it than the Conservatives had. because neither will take the only action that will succeed - and that is preventing arrivals landing here in the first place.
But what's particularly disingenuous is Mr Tapps's attempts to suggest that that "...Brexit meant the Government was struggling to deport failed asylum seekers to Europe."
Brexit made no significant difference to that whatsoever. The Dublin Agreement (he only EU facility for dealing with asylum claims that the UK was bound by) was simply a bureaucratic exercise to settle the status of a very small number of immigrants.
In its final few years it facilitated the transfer of far more to the UK that out of it. So if anything, Brexit (and the end of the UK's participation in Dublin) was advantageous to us in that respect.
What's paricularly disgraceful is that Mr Tapp failed to emphasise that when he lauded Dublin as the universal panacea for all the country's illegal immigration problems.
