Don't know where to put the above but here goes.

Sister is still in a nursing home for rehab but is progressing but still unable to walk any distance but could get out in a few weeks.

However she won't be going back to her old house as there 22 steps inside the house and 7 to negotiate outside and she knows she couldnt walk up any of those.  Just a bath ie no walk in shower.

Anyway without going to things at great length.   There has been a possibility of a bungalow which she may or may get but she needs points.  At the moment according to her housing association she has been awarded 36 - now this is all new to me and so I am wondering how could I get her more points.

Surely the loss of her big home could should be gaining points.

Next would you go to the GP, social worker, physios.

Anybody tell me where to start to go to.  Thanks

Barry I knew you would say that - Barry - she has an answer for every question.

Perhaps she would be better being at home and finding out herself physically what she can actually do - cos me I am exhausted with everything.

I know you are, JJ, and I'm not surprised

Has she got a downstairs bathroom?

Question Author

no - downstairs toilet unfortunately

Could a stair lift be installed? Bed in parlour, downstairs loo - she'd only need to go upstairs for the bath.

Maybe a shower could be installed downstairs

Question Author

barry I mentioned that lot to her and to be honest - the day may come for me in the summer - my nephew will be down to give me some pointers.  As I get older it is difficult to lift the oul leg over the bath so a walkin-shower would suffice there.  And when I am tired and weary up the stairs - a chair lift would.

Don't know about the downstairs lavatory but again nephew has said he could put (I don't know what he talking about ) - like macerated or (under the stairs) or like a wee camper toilet - or unlike sister should be smarter than her and start and apply into an apartment like for some years time.  like at least have my name down on forms

I know you have had issues with your sister and how she has spoken to you while she is recovering. Are things better now that she seems to be making progress?

Would it work for the two of you to be together in a two bed, two bath accomodation or is that tempting fate

Question Author

no tempting fate - we are like chalk and cheese - wouldn't work out and also would turn out far far more for me to.  you know whilst carers cant be there all the time - I would be the wee carer in the mean time LOL
