not sure where the reversing the digits comes in
18 8+1=9
If the digits of Melinda's age are A and B then her age is
10A + B
If you reverse the digits you get 10B + A,
So, 10A + B = 2(10B + A + A + B)
which simplifies to 10A + B = 22B + 4A which in turn simplifies to 6A = 21B.
Divide by 3 and you get
2A = 7B
The only single digits which satisfy this equation are
A =7 and B =2
So Melinda is 72.
Sorry to be it a bit thick here but I don't see how the answer fits the question.
If she is 72 and you reverse that to get 27, what next to get to 36?
rogerr ... I agree the question was a little unclear but you need to reverse the digits = 27 then add their sum (i.e.9), so 27+9 = 36.
Nice to have you back, bob!
I forgot it was Tuesday.

Top answer, Don!
