I microwave vegetables and was concerned to hear froma friend that doing this ruins 97% of the goodness. I would like to know if anyone knows of any proffesional scientific tests and data that prove this, as I'm afraid i think its a load of rubbish.

The 97% refered to broccoli a report on the BBC. It is like everything no one can agree.Depending on the country and the scientist every answer is different. If you put microwave nutrients in your search bar you can view the reports.
clematis, you are quite right - it is rubbish.

The BBC story is here:

It points out that some antioxidants are lost during microwaving as they are water soluble but also states that steaming/boiling has the same effect.
