Speaking recently about her time as Jeremy Corbyn's girlfriend, Diane Abbott said his life was 99% politics.  Upon her complaining that they never went anywhere, he, bring the kind person she says he is, told he was taking her out.  Looking forward to going to a nice wine bar she got in the car - and found herself visiting the grave of  Karl Marx at Highgate Cemetary.

What an old romantic he was!  😂

Any other such tales of romance out there?

He took her to Karl Marx's grave... was it a communist plot?

My sister's first and last date with this particular young man was to his mother's tupperware party

Simply cover for a meeting between agents Cob and Krasnov.

😆

My friend was asked out on a date which was to be a bike ride and a coffee.
He took her to a car dealership place and made use of the free coffee and newspapers.

What a tightwad! She was with him for a while after that, but has now chucked him.

My third and final date with one young lady was to a restaurant I had booked for a romantic meal.  She bought her parents along and it was an inquisition.  They nearly had the wedding booked.

To add salt to the wound I ended up paying the bill.  The father had a fondness for brandy, if I recall.

That might have been me, Cloverjo 😂

Barry, that must have stung. Better off without her and her parents.

I was more frit about them trying to marry us off than paying the bill.  I told her why I didn't want to see her again, hopefully other boyfriends weren't put through it.

I'd have really enjoyed a trip to Highgate Cemetary (I LOVE graveyards and cemetaries).

Mr BM once got a free pressure cooker and handed it to me saying "Happy Christmas".

My then girlfriend bought me a microwave oven for my 40th birthday.   Not exactly the most personal or romantic gift - but at least it's still working many years later!

I've mentioned this one before on these pages.

As captain of the club snooker team, it fell on me to attend the monthly meetings and my brother-in-law would drive me to wherever it was being held that particular month.

One meeting fell on Valentine's Day and i remarked on what i  had bought his sister. His look of horror was enough to tell me he had forgotten it was Valentine's Day.

He stopped at the first shop he knew sold cards and purc hased one for his mrs. Because we were going for a drink afterwards, he parked his car outside his house, popped his head round the door, tossed the unopened card to her and said, "Write something in that."

We then went down the club for a few games of snooker 😁

and she still didn't take the hint!.. 😁

😂 that takes the biscuit

Ken, that's awful!

I knew a bride who accompanied her new husband to a football match straight after the wedding ceremony.  I don't know if they're still together.

He wasn't allowed to dribble in the penalty area after that.
