"The Daily Telegraph reports that President Trump has suggested he could sign up the US as an associate member of the Commonwealth, external, because of his love for the King. The paper says he backed the idea on social media, in response to claims that Buckingham Palace could make him a "secret offer" during his second state visit to the UK."

Or is this some devious plot to eventually get his hands on Canada?

i.m.o. everything Trump does (almost) is about China, which is spreading its tentacles around the globe.

The Commonwealth was an extraordinary institution ignored and brushed off by many British politicians, particularly of the Left, but never the Queen & royal family.

America joining what's left of it, would give enhancement to the Commonwealth 'club' & would increase the non-specific & yet discernable link which several countries have together around the world. 

I think it would be a great idea & Donald won't be around for ever.
