Isn't firefox 2.0 supposed to be released today? what happened?

Firefox 2 is released at 1700 PST (0100 BST).

I think PST is Pacific Standard Time which is west coast America time.

So we do not get it till 01 00 BST which is actually 1 AM tomorrow, 25th October

It's officially released as vehelpfulguy says. You can grab yourself a copy from the FTP servers right now though if you like.
