 The TV licence is now old. With so many viewing channels these days the purpose of the licence fee is outdated. There does not seem to be a debate about reforming it, personally i think the BBC should show adverts except keep BBC1 advert free.

We pay the licensing fee for peace of mind. The detector van people banged on our doors and windows once of a nighttime. Boy did we jump.

Has the TV licence been optional ever. I thought it was compulsory, which is why it shows reminders at the start of the university year, for students to get theirs.

if you watch any live tv or Iplayer then you need a licence. Stream and you don't.
