Hi - I would like to install an outside light to my house. As I would only use it when opening the front door at night I was wondering if i could pick up the feed for it from the hall light switch i.e. when I turn the hall light on, the outside light would come on at the same time. Is it OK to do this? the outside light has an earth whereas the inside light look as though the earth wire is not used. Any response gratefully received (Rayspark1?)
Thanks
Ray
Hi Ray - There is one black and one red connected to the switch with an unused earth wire. Thinking about it I think maybe Dasherman has the answer if I can manage to get a wire from the outside light to the hall rose.
Thanks for your help - both..........
Dusty
Billy is right really but, if you are going to do it don't take it from the light switch,do as dasherman says, it is a simple job, just make sure if you put up a metal fitting that it is earthed, run the wire from fitting to rose in hall then connect to the outside terminals, the ones the flex connects to, take care dusty, Ray
