Yes, it is certainly possible to turn your life around for the better and yes it takes guts and determination. But, we all have ONLY ONE life and none of us know how long or short it will be. It is the most precious gift we are given and it is up to us to try and make it the best we can. The way forward is to set yourself reachable goals. Once these have been reached you can always set new higher ones to achieve. For me personally the most important goals to reach for are balance, love and happiness within myself. Working towards these three goals not only enriches my life but, according to my family and friends, the lives of everyone around me.
To make a point, I'd like to share this little story with you :
My father took my mum out to a top class nightclub when we were on holiday in Monaco many years ago, because he wanted to take her to one of the world's greatest shows. The next morning at breakfast Daddy told me that they had sat at a table next to one of the most unhappy men in the world. When I asked who it was he said "Aristotle Onasis", at that time probably the richest man in the world. This man had more money than many countries and yet he was totally incapable of enjoying being with his friends, enjoying one of the greatest shows on earth, enjoying the most luxurious foods etc. etc. He had seen everything, done everything, bought everything (and everyone) and sitting next to the amazing Maria Callas, it seemed there was nothing left for him but boredom. I guess what this story taught me was : Balance, love and happiness will make you rich beyond your dreams, but all the money in the world can't buy you true happiness.
So, the goals you set yourself to change your life around need to be carefully chosen.
