I don't give up that easily!
Try this:
Turn the printer on.
Hold the middle button down for 3 seconds and release.
(If you accidentally release it too early, it will start to feed a sheet of paper. If so, press it briefly again, to eject the paper, and then hold it down for 3 seconds).
The power light will start flashing. Don't do anything until it stops.
The print heads have now been cleaned but, obviously, you'll want to check that the cleaning has been effective. Here's how to check the print head nozzles:
Turn the printer off.
Make sure there's some paper in it.
Hold down the middle button and keep it held down.
Press the left hand button to turn the printer on. Release this button only.
Wait until the printer starts to print a test sheet, then release the centre button.
This will produce a test pattern. If the colour blocks are sold colours, that's it. If there's still banding, repeat the head cleaning process.
If the banding doesn't clear after 4 or 5 attempts, turn the printer off and leave it overnight. Then repeat the process for checking the print nozzles. If necessary, repeat the cleaning process.
All of this has been summarised from the information, under 'How to' and then 'Using the Control Panel Buttons', here:
