Ive created my web pages - i need to publish them - is this a difficult process..???

And do you have to register domain names?

Im new to all this - so some what baffled!

There are free places to host web sites so maybe look into that first (but I have no knowledge of how to do that).

If you want your own domain name you have register it and pay for it. Easy to do and not too expensive (few pounds). Many ISPs offer this service, I used Netcetera. http://netcetera.co.uk/

Once you have a domain name you have to find someone to host it. You have to pay for this as well. There are hundreds of ISPs, and again I used Netcetra. http://netcetera.co.uk/

Once you have your domain and an ISP to host it they will give you a userid and password which allows you to publish to your site.

Once you have the correct info you can select "Publish" in FrontPage, fill in the required fields, and there you are.

Easy !

Quick question again for you please...

When you go onto netcetera.... i understand the domain name bit - but where do i go to host it and get the username and password?

It is actually a two step approach.

Get your domain. Netcetera actually pass the info on to Nominet who are the UK authority who manage all the UK domains. http://www.nominet.org.uk/

To get Netcetera to host it you need to select Shared Web Hosting. This is �30 a year. Give them all the details.

They will then send you a couple of e-mails giving all the info you need like your userids and passwords.

Remember Netcetra are just one company, dont just chose them because I used them as an example, there are HUNDREDS of companies.

Perhaps buy a web magazine from the newsagent and see the adverts there.

If you are going to get someone to host it make sure they run their servers on Windows and not Linux or some other operating system product.

Front Page works best with a Windows server as it places some special files on the server when you use Front Page.

You need "Front Page extensions" which Netcetera do offer. See their Starter Pack under Shared Web Hosting.
