i-tunes issues

Hello people...I bought a new (second hand) computer a few weeks ago and it was working really fast and going really well. Downloads were quick, internet was quick...subsequently my flatmate has installed all her ipod/i-tunes stuff onto it and it seems to be going really really slow. Does this always happen and is there anyway to stop it? Or at least make it a little better? Anyone else had problems?

It shouldn't really have any speed issues, certainly when it isn't running. I assume you've done the usual virus scan etc.?
