Eggnog

What does it actually taste of? Is there anything that tastes similar? is it sweet or savoury? etc etc. I've always been interested but the name is so godawful that I've been quite put off so far... maybe this would sway me....

It always reminds me of Advocaat. If you make your own make sure the eggs are fresh and from a good source. Raw egg can still contain samonella.
